Purchasing & Trials
Do you offer free trial fonts?
Yes, we offer trial fonts for internal use, testing and presentation purposes. They must not be used in any public-facing or commercial work. Head to the Free Trials page.
What font formats do you provide?
You’ll get OTF, TTF and WOFF2 files with every font, all included by default with our Universal License.
Do you offer student discounts?
Yes. Students currently enrolled in a design or art-related program can access our full font library for 50 CHF under a Student/Education license. To apply, email us at info@bolidsystem.com with your full name, school/program and a valid student ID or enrollment proof. This license is for non-commercial, personal school projects only.
Payments & Refunds
Can I get a refund after purchasing a font?
Because fonts are digital products, all sales are final and we can’t offer refunds once a file has been delivered. If you experience a technical issue or received the wrong file, contact us at info@bolidsystem.ch and we’ll make it right.
Licensing
What is a font license and why do I need one?
A font license is a legal agreement that allows you to use a typeface under specific conditions. Fonts are software and using them without a license is a violation of copyright law. Our licenses are tailored to fit different use cases, from branding to publishing to digital products.
What’s the difference between the Buyer and the License Owner?
The License Owner is the one who holds the legal right to use the fonts, usually the end client or the company using the fonts. The Buyer is simply the person or entity who made the purchase. This could be a designer, developer, or consultant acting on behalf of the License Owner. The Buyer does not automatically become the License Owner unless they are the actual end user. If you’re buying the fonts for someone else, make sure to provide the License Owner’s name during checkout. This ensures the license is legally valid.
Who owns the fonts?
Arthur Schwarz & Maël Bächtold retains full ownership of all typefaces. When you purchase a license, you are buying the right to use the fonts under specific conditions, not the fonts themselves.
Can I share the font files with my collaborators?
Yes, but with limits. You may share the font files with a single third party (such as a freelance developer, printer, or agency) if it is strictly necessary for carrying out the licensed project. If multiple external collaborators need access to the fonts (e.g. several agencies or suppliers), you must purchase a Third Party License Extension to cover them. Can I modify your fonts?
No. Modifying, reverse-engineering, or creating derivative fonts is strictly prohibited unless you’ve obtained explicit written permission from Bolid System. Reach out to us if you need a custom version.
Can I use the fonts after the license expires?
No. Use of the fonts beyond the license term requires renewal. Continued use without a valid license constitutes a breach of contract and may result in penalty fees.
Can I get a temporary/annual or renewable license?
Yes, we offer a renewable license with a 50% discount for short-term or seasonal projects like events or limited-time campaigns. This option grants usage rights for one year and can be renewed at the end of the year. By default, our fonts come with a perpetual license.
Can I upgrade or extend a license later?
Yes, you can easily upgrade or extend your license at any time.
If your company grows beyond the size specified in your original license, you can upgrade to a larger plan.
If you need to share the fonts with additional collaborators, you can purchase extra Third Party licenses.
And if you need to use the fonts in a way not covered by your core license (like for apps, merch, advertising, or TV), you can request optional add-ons. These are available outside of self-service, upon request and subject to specific agreement.

Do you offer custom or unlimited licenses?
Yes. If your project doesn’t fit into standard licensing (such as a company with more than 5000 employees) contact us directly for a tailored license.
What happens if I breach the license terms?
If you use the fonts outside the licensed scope or share them improperly, you may be charged a contractual penalty and/or be liable for damages. We’re reasonable but we take licensing seriously.
What does the Universal License include?
Our Universal License — the core self-service package — grants you the right to use our fonts for the following standard uses:
• Desktop/Print — for creating and editing print and digital assets (books, flyers, brochures, etc.).
• Web — for one single domain, using WOFF2 files only (no cloud hosting).
• Social Media — for static graphics on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, etc.
• Logo — to create a wordmark or logo for one brand (note: using that logo in other media requires an additional license).
• Video — for audio-visual content (streaming, motion graphics, etc.). Important: If you publish video content on social media, you’ll also need the Social Media license.
• Signage — for digital or physical signage at events, exhibitions, or within a specific geographic area.
• ePub/Magazine — for embedding fonts in digital publications (eBooks, interactive PDFs, etc.), with no extraction allowed.
• One Third Party — you may share the fonts with one external collaborator (e.g., a developer, printer, or agency) for your project.

This package is designed for most common use cases and covers everything you need for branding, digital and print projects.
What’s NOT included — and available as add-ons?
The following uses are expressly excluded from the Core License and must be purchased separately, outside of self-service, upon request:
• App/Game — for embedding fonts in mobile apps, web apps, or video games.
• Product/Merchandising — for manufacturing apparel, accessories, packaging, or promotional goods.
• Advertising — for campaigns, billboards, vehicle wraps, banners, or HTML5 ads on third-party servers.
• Broadcast/TV — for use in television programs, live broadcasts, news, or streaming platforms (including on-screen graphics and credits).
• App/Game — for embedding fonts in mobile apps, web apps, or video games.
• Product/Merchandising — for manufacturing apparel, accessories, packaging, or promotional goods.
• Advertising — for campaigns, billboards, vehicle wraps, banners, or HTML5 ads on third-party servers.
• Broadcast/TV — for use in television programs, live broadcasts, news, or streaming platforms (including on-screen graphics and credits).
Additional Third Party licenses (beyond the first) are also available as add-ons.

Can you feature my project on your website or social media?
We love to share great work using our fonts. When you license a typeface from Bolid System, you grant us permission to feature your projects on our website, social media, or other promotional materials, always with proper credit. If you’d prefer to opt out, just let us know.
